The elements of art (sometimes called visual elements or art elements) are components or parts of a work of an illustration that can be isolated and defined from other parts. They are the tools an artist uses to create a piece of art: line, perspective, shape, space, color, value, and texture. Artists manipulate these elements to achieve a desired effect. An element may dominate a composition or not be used at all. You can think of the elements as “language” an artist uses to convey meaning.
