Picture Book Awards
Everyone in the United States is familiar with the Caldecott Award, the most prestigious award for American illustrators. Likewise, Australians know and anticipate the Picture book of the Year Awards, as those in the United Kingdom anticipate the Kate Greenaway announcements. Worldwide, we have the Hans Christian Andersen Awards to look forward to every other year. True picture book aficionados follow the Biennial of Illustrations (BIB), which is organized by the Bibiana International House of Art for Children, with help from the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic.
The focus of the awards section on Picturing Books are picture book and illustration awards. Thus, while we think other formats and age designations in the field of children's literature are equally important, we have made it our mission to focus this particular aspect of each country's awards.
